Midwest Lost Ski Areas Project

MEMBERS OF THE10th MOUNTAIN DIVISION IN THE MIDWEST

While reading that President Biden recently created his first National Monument at Camp Hale in Colorado

( https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/camp-hale-is-colorados-newest-national-monument-180980944/?fbclid=IwAR16JMx9gSJ3kklXkADLyR6fDx9qEq5XEH86eHc6x9QfAX_DfkjfV2foOjk ),

I learned that

"At least 62 ski resorts have been founded, managed, or employed head ski instructors that were 10th Mountain Division veterans"

So I wondered if any of these ski resorts were here in the Midwest.

This is what I found:

GEORGE NELSON JR., member of the 10th Mountain Division, developed LUTSEN MOUNTAINS, Lutsen, MN.
